Small gifts. Soft coastal details.

An envelope box SVG.
A little coastal calm.

Tide Letter is an original seashell envelope box SVG for foldable cardstock. Its shallow gusseted body brings a little dimension to the familiar envelope shape, with a triangular front flap and a decorative lower front. The side tabs are glued, and closure requires your own ribbon with an inside stopper knot and an outside bow. The ZIP includes one scalable SVG, an English preparation and assembly guide, and an annotated fold map. Original SVG page: 140 × 200 mm; flat artwork: 120 × 184 mm.

SVG + English guide + fold mapCardstock gift packaging

A quiet coastal detail.
A thoughtful little parcel.

A small gift can hold a lovely moment. Tide Letter pairs a letter-inspired silhouette with original seashell and water-drop cutouts for coastal celebrations, party favours and carefully wrapped keepsakes. Choose your own approved cardstock and ribbon to make the finished presentation personal.

The lower front has one scallop-shell window and two water-drop windows; the back is solid. A continuous bottom gusset and two glued side gussets give the envelope its shallow box form, while a top cap bridges the depth beneath the triangular flap. The decoration is cut through the cardstock, rather than printed or engraved. A suitable separate inner wrap can protect small or delicate contents where the windows are open.

The images illustrate a possible finished appearance. A physical box, cardstock, adhesive, ribbon, gift contents, lining and styling props are not included.

  1. Confirm the layout

Extract the ZIP and import the SVG. Verify the 140 × 200 mm page and 120 × 184 mm artwork bounds. The nominal body is 80 mm wide, 65 mm high and 12 mm deep before material and fold allowances; check the 12 mm gussets and two 8 mm glue tabs against the guide. Identify every fold, tab and aperture using the annotated map before processing.

  2. Separate cut and score

Assign blue fold paths to a separately tested shallow score and red contours to cutting. Score first, cut the internal apertures next, and release the outside net last. If shallow laser scoring is unsuitable, disable the blue group and hand-crease the guide’s folds after cutting.

  3. Assemble and check the closure

Pre-crease all eight folds. While FRONT is still flat, prepare a doubled ribbon with a stopper knot that cannot pass through the 3 mm front hole; keep the knot inside and feed both free tails out. Form the gussets and front, glue the side tabs inside and let the adhesive cure. Add light wrapped contents, close the top cap and triangular flap, pass both tails through the aligned flap hole and tie a snug outside bow. Test your intended wrapped contents and the closure before making a batch. Keep the finished box lightly filled and support it when moving.

This design has not been physically test-cut, scored or assembled. Finished fit, strength, capacity and closure performance depend on stock, kerf, fold radius, adhesive and assembly. No universal material thickness or machine settings are supplied.

Your gift, gently presented.
The practical details.

What files will I receive?

The ZIP includes tide-letter-seashell-envelope-gift-box.svg, README.txt and fold-map.png. The SVG contains the cutting and scoring artwork. The English README covers preparation, assembly and use terms; the annotated PNG is a reference guide, not a laser-processing image.

Is this a flat envelope or a finished box?

Tide Letter is a digital template for a shallow, gusseted cardstock gift box. Its nominal 80 × 65 × 12 mm body measurements (width × height × depth) are design dimensions before stock and folding allowances, not a guaranteed internal fit or capacity. It is not a finished product. You provide approved cardstock, adhesive, ribbon and any contents; the construction is not intended for rigid wood, plywood or acrylic.

How do the windows and closure work?

The lower front has one scallop-shell window and two water-drop windows; the back is solid. These are open cutouts, not printed or engraved marks. A user-supplied ribbon must have an inside stopper knot larger than the 3 mm front hole. Feed both tails out through the front hole before adding contents, then through the aligned hole in the closed flap and tie a snug outside bow. An outside bow alone, without the inside anchor, is not the intended retaining mechanism. A ribbon and inner wrapping material are not supplied. Keep small loose items separately wrapped so they cannot escape through decorative windows.

How do I assemble and resize the envelope box SVG?

Follow the fold map to pre-crease the eight lines. Prepare the ribbon while FRONT is still accessible: fold it in half and tie a bulky stopper knot in the doubled ribbon near the fold. The knot must not pass through the 3 mm hole. Keep it inside and feed both free tails out through the front. Raise the side gussets, fold the front up around the continuous bottom gusset, and glue the outward tab faces to the inside front-edge strips. Let the adhesive cure before loading. Fold the top cap across the depth and the triangular flap down; pass both tails through the aligned flap hole from underneath and tie a snug outside bow. Scale the complete design proportionally when resizing; the tabs, apertures and fold allowances also change. Assemble another prototype before making a batch. The front artwork is intentionally inverted in the flat net so it sits upright after folding; do not flip the motif independently. A ribbon with its inside anchor is required; there is no self-locking tab, latch or load-rated closure.

How do I prepare the file for Glowforge, xTool or Epilog?

Glowforge: Upload the SVG in the Glowforge App and confirm the 120 × 184 mm net fits your model’s usable work area. Assign red contours to Cut and blue folds to Score. Keep scoring settings separate from cutting, then inspect the complete job preview.

xTool Studio/XCS: Use software supported by your exact model and confirm its available work area. Studio’s SVG import DPI setting can affect initial dimensions. Verify the 120 × 184 mm net, assign red to Cut and blue to Score, and test shallow folds on scrap stock.

Epilog: Open the SVG in suitable vector software and use your exact model’s driver or Dashboard workflow. In Illustrator, retain centered 0.025 mm vector strokes. Give blue folds a separate light vector pass from red through-cuts. Follow model-specific hairline guidance if using CorelDRAW.

Other CO₂/diode systems: Where LightBurn supports the actual controller, import the SVG and assign cutting and shallow scoring to different Line layers. Check scale, available work area and Preview. A CO₂ or diode source alone does not establish software, controller or cardstock compatibility.

If a suitable shallow score is unavailable, turn off output for the blue SCORE group, cut only red contours and hand-crease using the fold map. Do not process the guide PNG as an engraving.

Which cardstock and settings should I use?

Choose flexible, uncoated stock whose manufacturer confirms suitability for the exact equipment and laser wavelength. Check coatings, inks and any adhesive against your machine instructions and material documentation. Glowforge’s material guidance explains why paper compatibility must be confirmed for the actual material and laser.

Test shallow scoring and cutting on scrap stock, then assemble a prototype. Add adhesive and ribbon after laser processing. Follow ventilation and continuous supervision guidance, and keep the bed clear of scraps. No universal power, speed or pass count is provided. This packaging is not represented as waterproof, food-safe, shipping-rated or suitable for heavy contents.

Can I sell physical boxes I make?

Yes. Personal projects and sales of finished physical boxes you make are permitted. Do not resell, share or redistribute the digital files or modified digital versions. See the README for usage terms. Finished packaging, stock, adhesive, ribbon, gifts and styling props are not included in this digital download.
